Protection films

A temporary surface protection film is a thickness of plastic coated with a thickness of a specialized pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA).

Digital devices include sensitive technologies such as touchscreens and so the protection of these devices and their displays for the functioning and value retention of electronic devices is vital.

Materials
LDPE, or low-density polyethylene, is the most common type of protective film. COEX, or Co-Ex LDPE, is short for co-extruded low-density polyethylene. PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is perhaps the best-known type of plastic. PP, or polypropylene, is a type of plastic useful for high-heat applications.

Masking Tapes

A pressure-sensitive tape made of a thin and easy-to-tear paper, and an easily released pressure-sensitive adhesive. It is available in a variety of widths. It is used mainly in painting, to mask off areas that should not be painted.

As an example to protect part of a surface that you are painting.

Materials
These tapes are usually made from a form of cream coloured crepe paper and are available in various widths. They use a rubber based adhesive and are best suited for applications such as holding polythene or masking paper in place when spraying or short term painting and decorating jobs. They can usually withstand temperatures of between 30 – 70℃
depending on the tape brand.

Thermal Tapes

Thermal adhesive tapes are high performance thermal conductive acrylic foam tapes coated with a well-balanced double sided acrylic adhesive system. They are designed to provide a preferential heat transfer path between heat generating components and heat sinks or other cooling devices.

Applications
It is commonly used to bond integrated circuits to heatsinks where there are no other mounting mechanisms available.
